Sometimes Silence is Easier

Hey y’all. I know we haven’t posted in well months, but honestly sometimes silence is easier. There are many reasons I haven’t posted in a while.

First, I wasn’t posting because our family has been work through the loss of my dad, and working through the logistics of everything that brings. The grief is just as hard today as the day I received the phone call. The holidays were especially hard. Our family tried to fill the time with many new traditions, but honestly I think all the newness just caused more stress. We were all sick, grieving, and stressed. But God… Even through the darkness of this season of grief, he continues to shine his marvelous light on us. Even through sickness and stress we were still able to make joyous memories, and genuinely celebrate the joy that only comes from the Savior.

Second, I wasn’t posting because we were adjusting to the addition of our 15 year old nephew to our home. We are so humbled and thankful for the opportunity to love and care for him in this way. He is a wonderfully caring and incredibly smart guy, and he has truly brought so much joy to our lives. Praying everyday the Lord would guide us as we parent and disciple him.

Lastly, I wasn’t posting because there hasn’t been any news to update with. We were approved and placed on Macedonia’s waitlist back in July, and we are still on that waitlist. Macedonia is very unique in the way they match families with children. They use a computer system to do the matching. Basically we are waiting for the system to match our profile variables with a specific child’s profile variables, and until that happens we will continue to wait. But we believe and trust that our God is sovereign, even over technology. He is who directs our paths, and brings the rain to the harvest. It is in his divine timing alone we will know our child. So we will continue to pray and wait for that day.

Prayer Needs:

  • Pray that the day comes soon when we will know our child, and patience in the waiting.
  • Pray for Dan as he navigates his new ministry as our church’s Discipleship Pastor.
  • Pray for Dan and Em as they continue their pursuit in a seminary degree from SBTS.
  • Pray for Em as she prepares for an overseas mission trip in April.
  • Pray for J as he navigates freshmen year, a new house, and a new town.

“At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:3-4
